Egypt, officially Arab Republic of Egypt, located mostly in North Africa in addition to the Sinai Peninsula, which constitutes a land bridge between Africa and Southwest Asia. That is why Egypt is the country transcontinental, and a major force in Africa, the Mediterranean and the Middle East and the Muslim world. Covering an area of about 1010000 square kilometers (390,000 square miles), and is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, and the Gaza Strip and Israel to the north-east, and the Red Sea in the east, and south Sudan, and Libya to the west.
Egypt is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa and the Middle East. The vast majority of people estimated 80000000 people living near the banks of the River Nile, in an area of up to 40000 square kilometers (15000 square miles), where there is arable land only. The wider area of the Sahara Desert is sparsely populated. About half of Egypt's population live in urban areas, and mostly concentrated in densely populated areas in Greater Cairo, Alexandria and other major cities in the Nile Delta.
Landmarks such as the Egyptian Pyramids of Giza Complex and the Sphinx, were built in ancient Pharaonic civilization. Its ancient ruins, such as Memphis, Thebes, and Karnak and the Valley of the Kings outside Luxor, are important focus for archaeological study. The tourism industry and the Red Sea Riviera employs about 12% of the workforce in Egypt.
Egypt's economy is one of the most diversified economies in the Middle East, and includes sectors such as tourism, agriculture, industry and services, and is approximately equal levels of production. In early 2011 contemporary Egypt Revolution, led to the removal of President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt after having been in power for nearly 30 years.
