 Tunisia, officially the Republic of Tunisia. Located in the far north of Africa. It's is a Maghreb country. Bordered by Algeria to the west, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea from the north and east. It has an area of about ??165,000 square kilometers (64,000 square miles), and an estimated population of more than 10.4 million. Its name is derived from Tunis, which is located in the north-east of the country.

 Tunisia is the smallest of nations situated along the Atlas mountain range. The south of the country consists of desert, and most of the remaining area consists of the very fertile soil, in addition to 1300 km (810 miles) of coastline.  The country was ruled by the authoritarian regime of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali from 1987 to 2011 before he fled during the revolution of Tunisia.
